INTERESTING FACTS OF FOUNDING TUTOR MISS SY WANG

Miss SY Wang was the top PSLE student of her school – Convent of the Holy Infant Jesus (Bukit Timah), scoring a remarkable result of 278 with Distinctions (A*) in all subjects.

Being effectively bilingual since young, besides scoring Distinctions for all of her Chinese Grades, Miss SY Wang also scored an A1 for English Language at the GCE O Level Examination while she was in Raffles Girl’s School.

She also scored a Distinction Grade for the GCE A Level English Literature Examination while she was part of the Humanities Elective Programme at Hwa Chong Junior College!

Having graduated with an Honours Degree in Chinese Language and Chinese Studies at National University of Singapore, Miss SY Wang continued to score Distinction Grades at Master level and topped half of her classes at Nanyang Technological University, National Institute of Education, scoring numerous A+s and As!

Miss SY Wang is proud to share that she was part of the Raffles Girls’ School Softball School Team that clinched the National Championship Title in 1994!

With a passion to serve the society, Miss SY Wang has been humbled by her volunteering experience for the past 2 decades.

University Days

Since her university days, she has been serving people from all walks of life in the community with organisations such as MINDS as well as in Meet the People Sessions.

As A School Teacher

As a school teacher, Miss SY Wang headed the Interact Club at Rafles Institution where students under her charge conducted Mentoring Programmes at Primary Schools and Reading Programmes at the National Library Board. She also organised annual Chinese New Year Reunion Dinners and Celebrations for the elderly at the old folks home so as to bring laughter and joy to them during the festive season.

In addition, Students Immersion Programmes planned and executed by Miss SY Wang always included a service component to the local community.

She has led students to serve at primary schools at Chiang Rai (Thailand), as well as at local farming communities at Selangor (Malaysia).

She has also collaborated with Sunshine Social Welfare Foundation for our local students to embark in community programmes in Taiwan, by giving their love and support to adolescents with visual or hearing impairments.

As An Individual

As an individual who cares for young children, Miss SY Wang has also been a sponsor to 6 children from all over the world under the “World Vision” programme over the past 2 decades.

As A Chinese Tutor

As a Chinese Tutor, Miss SY Wang continues her passion in community service and has provided students with opportunities in volunteering, such as leading students to take part in “Every Book A Story Campaign” organised by Chou Sing Chu Foundation.

Since the onset of Covid-19, Miss SY Wang has also spearheaded the “SY Wang Student Support Scheme”, by providing pro bono and subsidized Chinese Tuition to students who require financial assistance. Through this sponsorship, Miss SY Wang hopes that students who are interested in honing their interest and proficiency in Chinese Language can always come on board and join in our classes, as long as they are keen to learn!

Miss SY Wang has been composing songs since her days in NUS Chinese Choral Group where she also served as Vice-President. To date, she has written both melodies and lyrics for more than 80 over songs in both Chinese and English Languages.

Beyond song writing, Miss SY Wang has also penned scripts for musicals and plays in both Chinese and English Languages, both as a student and a school teacher. She has also served as Stage Managers and Play Directors in numerous occasions.

Since young, Miss SY Wang has came in top in Chinese story-telling and essay writing competitions. She has also participated onstage as a singer, dancer, cheerleader as well as actress throughout her school years where she often takes centre stage.

She is particularly fond of her memories to have represented her schools to perform as a Cheerleader at the National Day Parade, as well as a Flag Twirler at the Southeast Asian Games held in Singapore!

As of now, Miss SY Wang is the Creative Founder of Miss SY Wang Chinese Distinctions Learning Studio and has also taken on the role of a Creative Director in the development of the Curriculum. Driven by her passion in creation, she is also the overall brainchild of our current website, ensuring that we always Inspire By Making A Difference in Chinese Education!

Just like many Singaporeans, Miss SY Wang certainly loves good food and has a penchant for delectable plant-based meals and interesting cuisines from all over the world. She also enjoys picking up on her culinary and baking skills so that she can share these treats of warmth and love with family and friends!

Miss SY Wang believes in cultivating oneself spiritually, and she strongly believes in the positive benefits of Meditation.

One of her favourite maxims is “Be true to your Heart and Soul, and the Universe is ever ready to reward you multifold.”

As Steve Jobs had succinctly put it, “Have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”

Eckhart Tolle has also taught us, when one is aligned to one’s heart and soul, “Your creation is in line with what the universe wants, then you become enormously empowered, it’s like riding on a huge wave.”
